Good places to get Modules/Content

Thought I'd start a thread on where you go for your NwN needs.

I like this place, course I think most NwN players know about it, but it's always good to have up for any newbies

http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/HallOfFame.shtml

I chose the Hall of Fame page, since most of the best modules are there.

One thing I have a hard time finding is portrait packs. I can find pics I like, but I'd rather have a pack, instead of downloading one at a time.

Anyone know a good pack, especially something based on Vallejo, Bell or other good fantasy artists? I'm not much for the anime styles for NwN.

Thanks for the link MD! I know I'll be delving into modules soon, just after I beat all 3 in a row with my character  8)

It's really, really easy to make your own portraits. And much more fun since you can find the artwork you like and convert it. If you want to know how, lemme know, I'll post the procedure - takes no time at all to do and no skill either. :)

The Vault is the first place one should look for modules in. First play all those in the Hall of Fame, then move on to the Top Ten, then to the Top Reviewed :P.

About portraits, I found a lovely pack with more then a hundred quality ones. However, they are in Hakpak format, so you have to export them to your Portraits folder, but there are some really nice ones there.

Hey Luch, I would be interested in knowing how to make my own portraits. It would be a great way to personalize a character. Would it be possible for me to sketch something, scan it, then use it as a portrait?

Anything you can convert to a .jpg file can be converted!

Just take the .jpg pic (cropped as close as you like) and save it in the Neverwinter Nights/NWN/Portraits folder.

Open any standard NWN single player game.

Hit the console command key (~).

Type Conv then hit TAB - this will autocomplete the "ConvertPortrait" command.

Type the name of the pic file, without the extension.

Hit Enter

It'll give you a "Portrait converted" confirmation and you're done! You can now create a new character and select your new portrait.

That's the easy and quick way. For making custom portraits where the portrait is different depending on the size (there are 5 portrait sizes in game), the process is a bit more complicated and time consuming.

Aim low. Less chance of disappointment. More chance of a nutshot.

Some modules are Sapphire Star, DC/SL, A hunt through the dark, and then there's the whole rest of the hall of fame.

I've downloaded a couple of Mods during the weekend and now startet playing. WOW actually I'd say some are even better than the original game. So far I had a look in:

Hyborian Age 1: A straight forward hack n' slash Mod in the world of Conan - it comes even with the original soundtrack. Though talking isn't that important it manages quite well to convey the atmosphere of Conans world. Weapons and armors have benn completely redone to match the style of Hyboria.

An ancient heart: played a couple of hours of this mod. Very well done with lots of sidequests.

Birthrigth of the north: Looks very promising as well. World seems to be very big and you have a lot of choices where to go at the beginning. The Main plot looks very promising and it features some nice detailes, e.g. you have to wait several (ingame) hours between resting and chances are high that you get attacked when resting in resting in an area that hasn't been cleared.
