Kind of a stupid question

Since I have never used rods or wands other than Ghost rod which you can use once per day, what is meant by-

Wand of whatever 1 charge/use?

Does that mean you can only use it once?

Thanks for answering a rather stupid question I have always wondered about.

Hey GB, nice to see you posting here again.

The way I understand it is that each wand/rod has a certain amount of charges. Each wand or rod also can have one or more spells. Each spell can take up a different amount of charges per use.

For example you could have a rod with 50 charges and 2 spells on it: sleep and fireball.

Sleep could cost 1 charge/use, so you could use it 50 times.
Fireball could cost 2 charges/use, so you could use it 25 times.

I'm almost positive that's how it works.

I hope that makes sense.

In the description of the wand/rod/staff will be listed a number of charges (typically 50 for a wand). Every time you use that item's power, it loses X number of charges.

If you hotkey the item, you'll see directly on the hotkey bar the number of uses remaining without the need to right-click/examine the item.

Hope that helps.

Thanks thats what I kind of thought, man some of the Rods are very expensive and have only like 1-5 charges on them.

Guess that is why I sell them when I find them.:)

Well, the wands I've found so far, and my highest char is only lvl 5, only have one charge on them.  So, I usually find someway to use that charge, then the wand disappears after all used up.
