I knew a bunch of people with Wii.  I know of noone with WiiU.  Find it a bit odd.

Na. Wii U lifetime sales are ~9 million; PS4 is ~20 million. (Wii is over 100 million.)

Regurgitating a bunch of conventional wisdom (which may or may not be wrong) isn't really my thing, so I'll skip that, but the numbers don't lie; the 3DS family has done worse than the DS family, and the Wii U has done far worse than the Wii.

Which is kinda sad considering up to this point the Wii U has by far the best library (as it should with the extra year head start).  That will certainly change by the end of the year, since so many games for the others got pushed to this year, but it's kinda telling how bad Nintendo's message/advertising has been that they're that far behind consoles that had basically nothing but ports for a year and sold all their consoles on "potential".  And it's not like the gaming media has tried to disparage them or anything, most sites put Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. Wii U on their game of the year lists.
Currently playing: King of Fighters XIV, ME3 MP (PS3), Bloodborne, Life is Strange

Those two games are basically from the same genre though.  If that doesn't float your boat, then what?

Mario Kart 8?  Super Mario 3D World?  Pikmin 3?  Shovel Knight?  Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate?  Wind Waker HD?  DKC: Tropical Freeze?

I see Shovel Knight is on Steam now, looks interesting.  I've heard of the first 3 franchises, not the last 3 though.

Bayonetta is in the character action subgenre of 3D brawlers, but Smash is really a fighting game, even if it superficially controls like a 2D brawler.

Not a puzzle game I'd go out of my way to recommend. Tilt controls were aggravating at points, and the puzzles themselves were generally not complicated enough to be clever.

Game completion

1. Sigils of Elohim 16 January
2. The Talos Principle 19 January.
3. CoD Ghosts 11 February

100%

1. The Talos Principle 8 Feb

A few days ago I hit 100% achievements in Talos.  I ended up using a guide for some minor hints for tricky things.  One meta puzzle I needed just one word to see what I was missing.  I left one other puzzle to ponder for later.

CoD Ghosts wasn't as bad as I expected.  Its a CoD game, lots of set pieces, big on scripted events, but for someone like me, worth playing for the price I got it for.  Currently replaying on veteran and getting achievements I missed first time through.
