Mass effect and Windows 7
« on: January 04, 2010, 06:30:38 AM »
Installed windows 7 some time ago. (Yes, fully legal and registered, in case you're wondering...)
Re-installed Mass Effect at some point, but now it wil not start, and it seems the patch has been removed from the Bioware site. Before I start harassing them, any ideas?
Customer relations and EA, well.... You know... Incompatible...

Try running it in compatibility mode.  Right click on the icon and select properties.  Somewhere in there there should be a way to set the compatibility.

Actually, what you need is to run it as administrator. No need for specific windows version, just check the "run as administrator" checkbox and you're good to go. Or if you prefer to launch it manually each time, right click the exe or the shortcut, and select run as admin from there.

Well, the "run as administrator" doesn't seem to carry down to the options, so indeed I needed to run the binary as admin, then modify graphics etc. in-game. But it runs fine now, thanks.
