Single-player version is actually rather fun... surprisingly. I thought I'd be annoyed by finding things my character can't use and having no way to mule them or anything, but really it doesn't bother me. It just simplifies life. If I can't use it, no agonizing over "do I keep it for X, or what?"... just salvage and move on.

And no server lag issues to deal with. :P

By the end of when I was playing I didn't experience lag.  And I have always thought one of the strongest aspects of the game was that I could play the untwinked.

Single player is fun, until you need to mule something.  I have a few high lvl SP characters and I lost all interest when I had a stash full of stuff and nowhere to mule it.  Plus it is still impossible to finish the game in nightmare.

I loved the shared stash, larger stash, in game mail, etc, that made online play more enjoyable.

Well I am playing a summoner and having fun at it.  It also is reminding me of all that is good about the game, as well as the many frustrating things it contains.

Ah well.

I plan on playing just normal level.  No point playing NM as we all know.

BTW does Single Player have HC?

IIRC, no HC in SP.

Wasn't that the subtitle of the game?

I tried to load this up tonight to play a little SP, but the single player option is not in the launcher.  Not sure what is going on.  I got online and played my summoner for 5 minutes.  Yay!

I am able to play SP again, but only in DX10.  The reason is I am using a modified .exe file that eliminates the need for the DVD to play SP.  Apparently the file I had for DX9 had a trojan in it or something because my security software deletes it when I try to copy it into my SP directory.  The DX10 file is ok though.  I have to bypass the launcher and use the .exe file to start up the game, which is fine.  I thought I was using the DX9 file when I played SP previously without the DVD.  I also could start SP from the launcher.  Not sure why things are different now.

Umm...that is strange.

I haven't modded anything and unless I am smokin' crack and no paying attention, I don't keep the DVD in the drive.

Ditto. It plays fine in SP on both mine and my kid's systems with no DVD and no tweakin' or extra software.

Weird because if I use the vanilla install patched up to 1.2 for SP, then it says there is no DVD in the drive.  I'll mess around a little more tonight.  I may need to do a wipe and reinstall the whole thing.

I uninstalled and did a complete reinstall.  I still cannot play dx9 SP without the disc.  Would the fact that I installed it to a different directory than the software suggested have anything to do with it?
