On 11/9/04 Nvidia released the 66.93 drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/66.93_geforcetnt2_supported.html) for Nvidia cards. Out of sheer annoyance with my crashing Kotor, I downloaded and installed them...
And now am happy, happy, happy... not only did I manage a 4 hour no-crash Kotor session, but the drivers apparently really really love DirectX 9 or something because I was able to increase visual settings and keep a good playable framerate. For the first time EVER I was actually able to enable Anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, while keeping 1024x768 resolution - and wow, the game looks so much better!
All for a simple 16mb download. :)
Just thought I'd share. :P

Hmm .... I should check and see if there's drivers around that won't blue-screen when I alt-tab NWN.
